It's been a few days since the last posting, and let me just tell you why. I'M EXHAUSTED! We are back from our whirlwind trip, but still recovering! We had a wonderful time in PA seeing family and playing at the reunion. Rodgers and Kylie love Nana Irwin's house with her big toy bucket and the organ. We just played around her house on Friday, and Papa came in Friday night. Saturday we headed over to Kevin & Cathy's house for a pool party with the whole family! The kids had a blast playing in the pool with the big kids. Ian and Courtney came in from Richmond; we had a great time catching up with them. Then things really got exciting with a thunderstorm that knocked out the power and left us eating our dinners in the dark and hanging out on the porches! The most light of the evening came from the 24 candles on Courtney's birthday cake. We got home late and fell into bed for a little sleep before getting up Sunday to head out to the reunion. Rodgers had the time of his life on all the rides, and even dragged his sister along on a couple...she wasn't as sure about them. Kylie's favorite of the day was riding a pony! She said "neigh, neigh" and giggled the whole time around both laps on Derby. Rodgers decided he would ride a horse, too, after seeing Kylie do it. He even petted Derby's nose afterward. Rodgers also: played with Papa in the big ball pit, went down the monstrous red tunnel slide (note that he is still scared of our blue tunnel slide that is 1/4 the size), raced in a boat with Papa against Ian and Courtney, flew an airplane, drove a bus, rode a motorcycle, went for 3 train rides, rode Mr. Rodgers' trolley, flew in a dragon, went on the ferris wheel, rode a horse on the carousel, went on the Scrambler, and went on two roller coasters. Whew. It was a big day! We were at the amusement park until after 9pm and got home a little before 10pm. Monday morning we headed home. The kids did pretty well in the car...Kylie slept more than she did on the trip up, so that helped. Rodgers finally watched his movies with headphones so Mom and I got a break from listening to them!!! We pulled into our driveway around 7pm. Words could never describe the reaction when Kylie saw her Daddy; she's a daddy's girl through and through.
A note for all of you keeping up with the potty training: since getting home, Rodgers goes to the potty by himself and instructs me "you stay in the playroom and I'm going potty." No accidents since we've been back in NC!! Yippee!!
